Our economical Propane Cylinder Disposal System offers a convenient and safe method for recycling your companies' calibration gas cylinders.
This EPA-compliant propane canister recycling system easily removes the sealing sleeve and internal valve stem from propane and calibration gas cylinders. Use this small unit to quickly depressurize and convert empty cylinders into recyclable scrap metal. It empties and filters propellant, converting the cylinder from a hazardous to a non-hazardous state.
Each activated carbon filter includes 40 metal certification tags to verify cylinders are RCRA compliant empty. The filter safely removes VOCs and minimizes odor. Tags also serve as the filter indicator reminder to replace the cartridge when you run out of tags. Replacement filter cartridges with tags are available for separate purchase.
Help reduce your business expenditure by eliminating costs for this hazardous material disposal stream. This recycling system is ideal for industrial and commercial facilities that calibrate gauges measuring ammonia, methane, carbon dioxide/monoxide and more.
Because single-use propane cylinders are not refillable, they count as hazardous solid waste. That's because canisters that remain pressurized or contain residual flammable gasses may explode at the landfill.
This eco-friendly and efficient recycling system means your business can avoid the cost and hassle of hazardous waste disposal. You have two disposal options available once small propane containers are empty with a certified tag inserted. Sell the spent propane gas canisters as scrap metal. Alternatively, include them in your trash collection's recycling program.
Converting spent propane canisters into recyclable metal benefits the environment by diverting waste from landfill.
This propane cylinder disposal system is easy to use and requires no power source. Featuring an aircraft aluminum construction, it is both portable and lightweight. Users can either hold the recycler device by hand to operate, or, mount it to a flat surface workshop bench or table.
The system's ground wire removes the risk of static build-up during use. An activated carbon filter safely removes any remaining gas or propellant to eliminate VOCs.
Thread the canister into the bottom opening of the device so the top handle rises. Determine the cylinder's fuel content by briefly pressing the gauge activation button. If the gauge registers in the red area, it is not safe to proceed. You should remove and return the fuel cylinder back into to service. If the gauge is in the green area, fully press the activation button to vent remaining propellant to 0 PSI.
Next, firmly press the unit's upper handle to penetrate the container's nylon sealing sleeve. Lift the handle to remove the sleeve, then press it again to contact the internal valve stem. Rotate the knob counter eight times in a clockwise direction to remove the valve stem.
Remove the canister from the device and invert it so the valve system drops out. Disengage and release the sealing sleeve by lifting the upper handle. Finally, insert a steel tag to indicate that the valve stem has been removed from the empty cylinder. The container is now ready for safe drop-off and disposal at a local scrap steel or recycling center.
Unscrew and replace the filter cartridge after 40 uses, once all steel tags run out. Filter units are available for separate purchase, below.
